Biography - Ms. Cheryl Yingst Bartel

Cheryl holds both a B.A. (1987) and an L.L.B. (1990), with honours standing and is currently pursuing her L.L.M. in Labour Relations and Employment Law. She is named to both the Designated Mediator Roster and to the Arbitrator and Mediator Roster for the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (Canada Labour Code disputes).  Cheryl has over 25 years’ experience in conflict resolution and employment, experience in arbitration, mediation and med-arb processes and extensive experience building consensus in high profile and complicated disputes,(including in strike situations) in both the public and private sectors. She has mediated many first agreements, most commonly in health care (GSS, ANC) and in that sector recently mediated the AHS (GSS) negotiations.  In addition to health care, Cheryl has worked in utilities, education (secondary and post-secondary) municipal government (including City of Calgary inside and outside workers, Police, Firefighters and Public Library; City of Lethbridge transit workers), accommodation, transportation, retail trade, construction, manufacturing, oilfield services, railway, airlines and banking.  She acts as Grievance Arbitrator and Mediator, as a Senior Level Conciliator for the Government of Canada and was recently appointed as Chair of the Bill 6 consultations (Labour Relations), building consensus among a highly diverse group of stakeholders.
