Biography - Mr. John Moreau

Mr. Moreau is a graduate of the University of Alberta Faculty of Law and has been a member of the Law Society of Alberta since 1975. He was accepted as a member of the National Academy of Arbitrators in 1994 and appointed as a Queen’s Counsel in 2000. Mr. Moreau, who is bilingual, has issued over 150 labor arbitration awards pursuant to both provincial and federal legislation with over 30 reported cases in the Labour Arbitration Cases (Canada Law Book) (4th series). He has also been named as an arbitrator in several collective agreements over the last 25 years, in both the private and public sector as well as being named the chair of numerous Disputes Inquiry Boards in Alberta. In 2006, Mr. Moreau was appointed as the Acting Chairperson and CEO of the Canadian Artists and Producers Professional Relations Tribunal. Mr. Moreau was also appointed by Minister of Justice and Attorney General to the following Commissions: the 2006 Alberta Judicial Compensation Commission, the 2009 Alberta Justices of the Peace Compensation Commission and, more recently, the 2013 Alberta Judicial Compensation Commission.
